Timothy Michael Omundson (born July 29, 1969 in Saint Joseph , Missouri ) is an American actor .

Life

Omundson was born on July 29, 1969 in Saint Joseph, Missouri, the youngest of four children to a railroad worker and teacher. He grew up in Seattle , Washington and attended Interlake High School in Bellevue , Washington . Omundson then moved to Los Angeles , California and attended the University of Southern California (USC), where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Theater Degree . Omundson won the Jack Nicholson Award and the James A. Doolittle Award for outstanding achievements in acting .

He had his first appearance on television in 1992 in an episode of the television series Seinfeld . This was followed by other guest appearances (for one episode each) in the series A Terribly Nice Family , Diagnosis: Murder , The George Carlin Show , The Seattle Duo , Dark Skies - Fatal Threat , Respectively , Jenny , Frasier , Alone Against the Future , VIP - The Bodyguards , New York Cops - NYPD Blue , The John Doe Case! , Nip / Tuck - Beauty Has Its Price , OC, California , CSI: Miami , Criminal Minds , 24 , CSI: Vegas , Cold Case - No Victim Is Ever Forgotten , Boston Legal and Warehouse 13 . He made several guest appearances in Xena - The Warrior Princess and Supernatural .

Omundson had his first leading role in a television series in the CBS series For All Cases, Amy , in which he played the role of Sean Potter from 2000 to 2005 . From 2006 to 2014, Omundson played Detective Carlton Lassiter of the Santa Barbara Police Department (SBPD) in the USA Network- aired crime series Psych .
