The men's Bundesliga 1971/72 was the 6th season of the top German division in table tennis. Mettmanner TV became the champion .
season
Ten teams took part, new were Hertha BSC and TTC Mörfelden , who rose for SV Weißblau-Allianz München and DJK TuSA 06 Düsseldorf . Mettmanner TV became the champion . The VfL Osnabrück and Post SV Augsburg dismounted and were TTG Altena Nachrodt- and TSV Milbertshofen replaced.

Promotion round for the 1972/73 season
In Ettlingen, the climbers for the following season 1972/73 were determined. The four participating teams played everyone against everyone, the result was the following ranking:
- 1. TuS Nachrodt , 3 points
- 2. TSV Milbertshofen , 2 points
- 3. 1. FC Saarbrücken , ½ point
- 4. Hamburger SV , ½ point
Nachrodt and Milbertshofen thus qualified for promotion to the 1st Bundesliga.

- The Mettmanner TV championship team : Jochen Leiß , Rolf Jäger , Hans-Jörg Offergeld , Elmar Schneider, Ulrich Hirsch and Karl-Heinz Walbaum
- The most successful player was Jochen Leiß .
