Titus Lovell Ivory (born August 13, 1977 in Charlotte , North Carolina ) is a retired American basketball player . After studying in his home country, Ivory played as a professional in Europe, where he won the German championship with RheinEnergie Cologne in 2006 and the Belgian championship a year later. After retiring as a player, Ivory was coaching a high school team in his home country when he had to interrupt his coaching career in 2012 after a stroke .

Career

Ivory went to college at Pennsylvania State University in 1996 , where he played for their college team Nittany Lions in the NCAA's Big Ten Conference . In 1998 and 2000 they reached the Final Four tournament in the National Invitation Tournament . After the final defeat against the Golden Gophers of the University of Minnesota in 1998, they finished third two years later. In the last year of Ivory's NCAA career, 2001 succeeded in qualifying for the national NCAA finals , where you could surprisingly defeat the renowned Tar Heels of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from Ivory's native state in the second round . In the last sixteen round Sweet Sixteen , however, they then lost to regional rivals Owls of Temple University .

2001 Ivory began a career as a professional player in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A with Müller Scaligera Basket from Verona . The club, which a year earlier had taken part in the newly established, highest European club competition ULEB Euroleague , secured the sporting league as 15th and fifth from bottom of the final table, but then the club's gaming company had to be dissolved for economic reasons. Ivory got a new engagement with the previous competitor Viola from Reggio Calabria , who had been placed one place behind Müller Verona. Viola made it to ninth place and reached the play-off qualifying round. After the success in the qualification you played in the first round against the defending champion and main round first Benetton Treviso , who should succeed at the end of the season a " Triple Crown " from a national double and win the ULEB Euroleague 2002/03 . In the play-off series, Viola took the lead with two wins before the favorite could win the remaining three games and ultimately won the championship. A year later, the qualifying round was omitted and Viola missed out on being ninth in the play-offs for the championship.

At the beginning of the 2004/05 season Ivory got a contract with the newly promoted Sicc Aurora Basket from Jesi . However, this was not athletically competitive and should be relegated at the end of the season as bottom of the table. Ivory went one class lower during the season at the turn of the year and moved early to Carife Basket from Ferrara in the Legadue . At the end of the season, Carife lost just under five games in the first round of the play-offs for promotion. For the following season Ivory got a contract with the German cup winner RheinEnergie from Cologne in the basketball Bundesliga 2005/06 . Although the team missed the third cup win in a row, in the play-offs for the championship they were able to defeat the table runner-up and defending champion GHP Bamberg and in the final series the favored main round first ALBA Berlin . This was the first championship for the young club.

For the 2006/07 season Ivory then got a contract with the Lithuanian champions Lietuvos rytas from Vilnius . However, he left this before the turn of the year and joined the Belgian master Telindus from Ostend . With this the title defense in the Ethias League succeeded at the end of the season . While they moved into the knockout round in the European club competition ULEB Cup 2007/08 , but lost there to BK Kiev , they missed the third championship in a row for the club at national level. Instead, you could win the title in the Belgian cup competition. The following season Ivory got a contract with the Deutsche Bank Skyliners from Frankfurt am Main in the basketball league 2008/09 . However, the Skyliners failed after a sixth place in the main round in the first play-off round at the eventual champions EWE Baskets Oldenburg . In the 2009/10 season Ivory played in the Israeli Ligat ha'Al for cup winner Hapoel from Cholon . Hapoel's team, which in the two previous seasons with a championship and a cup win each, were able to steal two titles from the otherwise dominant club Maccabi Tel Aviv , only finished the main round as bottom of the table. In the " play-downs " one could still secure the league. Subsequently, Ivory ended his career as a player.

After his career as a player, Ivory returned to his homeland and coached a basketball team at a high school in his native Charlotte. During a training session in October 2012, he suffered a stroke, but was able to resume his work as a trainer six months later.
