Tomaž Žemva (born August 18, 1973 in Pokljuka ) is a former Slovenian biathlete .

Tomaž Žemva lives in Zgornje Gorje and works as a trainer in the army. The trained mechanical engineer started for ŠD Gorje and began biathlon in 1989 after being a cross-country skier like his grandfather Lovro Žemva . In 1994 he became a biathlon professional. He took part in the Junior World Championships three times. At the beginning of the 1993/94 season , he competed in his first race in the Biathlon World Cup in Bad Gastein . In the individual he was 96th, in the sprint 54th. It was not until 1994 that Žemva in Bad Gastein was 19th of an individual for the first and only time in the points. The first major event was the 1995 biathlon world championships in Antholz , where the Slovenian finished 14th in the relay race with Janez Ožbolt , Boštjan Lekan and Tomaž Globočnik . 1997 he was in Osrblie 77th of the individual, 71st of the sprint and with Jože Poklukar , Globočnik and Ožbolt fifth placed in the team competition. With Jože Poklukar, Ožbolt and Matjaž Poklukar , he also achieved his only podium finish in the World Cup in 1997 in a relay race in Nagano in the pre-Olympic competitions with third place. The 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano became a career highlight. At the competitions in Nozawa Onsen Žemva came in individual on the 61st place and in the sprint on the 42nd place. The last major event was the 2000 Biathlon World Championships in Lahti , where the Slovenian finished 14th with Ožbolt, Globočnik and Marko Dolenc . After that it was used sporadically in cross-country skiing. In 2005 in Predeal and in 2006 in Andermatt , he took part in the 15-kilometer freestyle races of the Military World Ski Championships and finished 35th and 42nd.
