Tonnie Dirks

Tonnie Dirks (actually Antonius Marinus Hendricus Maria Dirks ; born February 12, 1961 in Zeeland , Landerd , North Brabant ) is a former Dutch long-distance runner .

He was national champion once in the 5000 m (1987), four times in the 10,000 m (1985, 1988, 1991, 1993), three times in the half marathon or 25 km road run (1989, 1991, 1992) and seven times in the cross country run (1986– 1988, 1990-1992, 1994).

In 1989 and 1991 he won the Paderborn Easter run and from 1989 to 1991 the Zevenheuvelenloop three times in a row , the Egmond half marathon in 1991 and the Parelloop in 1991 and 1993 .

With a ninth place at the Rotterdam Marathon 1991 he qualified for the marathon of the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo , where he finished 16th. The following year he was third in the CPC Loop Den Haag and came 13th in the London Marathon , but did not finish in the marathon of the Olympic Games in Barcelona . In 1993 he finished second in the Amsterdam Marathon and the Zevenheuvelenloop.

After the end of his active career in 1994, he became a track and field coach.
