Topographic map of the Saarland 1: 25,000
The topographic map of the Saarland is a map of the German state of Saarland based on topographic maps on a scale of 1: 25,000 ( TK 25 ), formerly known as measuring table sheets . The TK 25 sheets represent the Saarland geometrically correct and are drawn up in their latest version by the State Office for Surveying, Geoinformation and Rural Development (LVGL) of Saarland.
history
The name TK 25, which is still in use today, originated in the early years of the German Empire , initially in the Kingdom of Prussia , from 1876 to the beginning of the 20th century. As a result, topographic maps were created in other areas as well.
The maps were originally in black and white in the Prussian processing area. Today, however, the maps appear in four colors with a black floor plan, brown contour lines, blue waters and green forest areas. The topographic map 1: 25,000 was converted to a new, nationwide map graphics.
Sheet designation
Originally, the measuring table sheets were numbered consecutively line by line from west to east in the north.
The individual sheets have been designated with four-digit numbers since 1937, the first two digits representing the line of a north-south sequence, the last two digits the column of a west-east sequence; the name of the largest or (historically) most important place in the depicted area can also be used for the sheet designation.
The four-digit numbers are still in use today, but the historical leaf names (important places) sometimes differ from today's names.
