The 2001 European Touring Car Championship season was the first European touring car championship since 1988. Titles were awarded in two classes, one for super touring cars and the other for super production cars. In the case of the super touring cars, two runs were driven per season station, in the case of the super production cars only one.

The season consisted of 10 stations. European champions were the Italian Fabrizio Giovanardi in the super touring cars and the Dutch Peter Kox in the super production cars.
