The Walvis Bay-Ndola-Lubumbashi Development Road (previously Trans-Caprivi Corridor or until 2004 Trans-Caprivi-Highway ) has been the name of a network of trunk roads between Walvis Bay on the Namibian Atlantic coast and Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of the Congo since 2010 .
The trunk road network is being marketed by the Walvis Bay Corridor Group , specifically to increase the use of the Walvis Bay port .
history
The corridor was named after the Namibian region of Caprivi ( Zambezi since August 2013 ) and after the Caprivi Strip , through which the most important section of the route runs. Caprivi, with the capital Katima Mulilo, was difficult to reach by land from western and central Namibia until the road was completed in 1999. The largest natural obstacles are the Okavango and the Cuando , whose rivers cross the Caprivi Strip from north to south. These rivers are now spanned by the Bagani Bridge and the Congola Bridge. They are each the only river crossings over hundreds of kilometers. Since the completion of the Katima Mulilo Bridge over the Zambezi River , Namibia has had a good direct connection to the Central African neighboring country Zambia , while Zambia has had quick road access to the overseas port in Walvis Bay.

The entire Trans-Caprivi Corridor comprises a road network of around 2600 kilometers.
