Tribromosilane is a chemical compound from the group of silanes .
Extraction and presentation
Tribromosilane can be obtained by reacting silicon with hydrogen bromide . This process was described as early as 1857 during the first synthesis by Friedrich Wöhler and Heinrich Buff .
properties
Tribromosilane is a colorless, easily mobile liquid that smokes heavily in air and hydrolyses to silicon oxide hydride and hydrogen bromide in cold water . It ignites easily in air.
