Trigger Alpert

Herman "Trigger" Alpert (born September 3, 1916 in Indianapolis , Indiana ; † December 21, 2013 in Jacksonville Beach ) was an American jazz musician ( double bass ) and photographer.

Live and act

Alpert joined the band of Alvino Rey after studying in Indianapolis and switched to Glenn Miller in 1940 ; The bass player could also be heard in the follow-up band, led by Tex Beneke . Then he went into show business and accompanied u. a. also Frank Sinatra , Caterina Valente , but also worked for Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich .

The first recordings were made in 1940 by Frankie Trumbauer ; He can be heard on records in the formations of Glenn Miller, Roy Eldridge , Ray McKinley , Louis Armstrong , Bernie Leighton , Tony Motolla , Jackie Paris and in the Sauter-Finegan Orchestra . In the field of jazz he was involved in 338 recording sessions between 1940 and 1972.

From 1950 he worked as a studio musician for the CBS in New York, where he worked for various radio and TV programs, such as the Gary Moore Show and as an accompanist for Carol Burnett , Dick van Dyke and Barbra Streisand . The only known record under his own name was released in October 1956; Trigger Happy on Riverside Records . recorded. Trigger Alpert can also be heard as the accompanist of the singer Lurlean Hunter (on Atlantic Records ) and in several sessions of the guitarist Mundell Lowe for Riverside Records. In 1955 he accompanied the singer Ted Straeter on his LP (Atlantic Records). In 1970 Alpert left the music business to work as a photographer and live in Ponte Vedra Beach .
