Jacksonville Beach is a city in Duval County in the US state of Florida with 21,362 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Jacksonville Beach is located between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean on the east coast of Florida and borders the cities of Neptune Beach and Jacksonville .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 21,362 inhabitants were distributed over 11,882 households. The population density was 1073.5 inh / km². 90.9% of the population identified themselves as whites , 3.9% as African American , 0.2% as Indians and 1.7% as Asian Americans . 0.9% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.2% to several ethnic groups. 4.3% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 19.4% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 22.0% of all households. 49.7% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.11 people and the average family size was 2.74 people.

16.8% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 33.5% were 20 to 39 years old, 29.7% were 40 to 59 years old, and 20.0% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 40 years. 50.6% of the population were male and 49.4% were female.

The median annual income was $ 61,445, with 9.1% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 94.42% of the population, 3.66% spoke Spanish and 1.92% had another mother tongue.

The city is crossed by US Highway 90 and Florida State Roads A1A and 202 ( Butler Boulevard ). The nearest airports are Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport (6 miles northwest) and Jacksonville International Airport (25 miles northwest).

The crime rate in 2010 was 439 points (US average: 266 points) in the average range. There were nine rapes, 39 robberies, 153 bodily harm, 128 break-ins, 949 thefts, 50 car thefts and three arson attacks.
