Trofim Fyodorovich Lomakin
Trofim Fyodorowitsch Lomakin ( Russian Трофим Фёдорович Ломакин ; born August 2, 1924 in Barancha in the Altai region ; † June 13, 1973 ) was a Soviet weightlifter .
Career
At the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 , a Soviet weightlifter surprised the public when he won the gold medal in the light heavyweight division ahead of the favored Arkady Vorobyov and Stanley Stanczyk . His name was Trofim Lomakin and he was a member of the "Red Army". The 28-year-old athlete, trained by Mechanik and Schatow, who had been trained by Mechanik and Schatow, was not entirely unknown, as he had won the 1951 World Youth Festival in Berlin and the 1952 Soviet championships. Until 1960 he was at the forefront of many important international championships. In 1960 he surprised with a change to the middle heavyweight division, after he had been overtaken in the light heavyweight division in 1959 by the new Soviet lifting star Rudolf Plukfelder .
Trofim Lomakin, last officer in the Soviet Army, died in 1973.

- 1960, silver medal , OS in Rome, Ms, with 457.5 kg, behind Vorobjow, 472.5 kg and in front of Louis Martin (weightlifter) , Great Britain , 445 kg.
