In 2006, at the age of seventeen, he started for the first time in the Polish senior championship and immediately reached 3rd place in the light heavyweight division with 330 kg (150-180). In the same year he finished 2nd at the Junior European Championships (U 18) in Landskrona in the middle heavyweight division with 312 kg (144-168). He won the same place at the European Junior Championships (U 20) in 2007 in Puerto de la Cruz , Spain , where he scored 347 kg (157-190) in the light heavyweight division.
In 2008 he was in the light heavyweight with 347 kg (162-185) Polish runner-up in the seniors. At the Junior World Championships (U 20) in Cali in 2008 , he had to accept the bitterness of three failed attempts in the light heavyweight division and therefore remained unplaced in the duel. In the push he won a bronze medal with 190 kg. At the European Junior Championships (U 20) in 2008 in Durres , he finished 2nd in the light heavyweight division with 353 kg (163-190). At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , it has not yet been used.
The year 2009 was very successful for Adrian Zieliński. He was used for the first time in an international championship among seniors. In Bucharest he came in the light heavyweight with 363 kg on the 5th place. But there he won an EM silver medal in the snatch with 167 kg. In the juniors (U 20) he was world champion in Bucharest and European champion in a duel in Landskrona . He was finally used in 2009 at the World Championships for Seniors in Goyang , where he scored 372 kg (171–201) in the light heavyweight division, placing him 6th. In the tear, he just missed his first World Championship medal in the seniors with 4th place.
He was not at the start at the 2010 European Championships in Minsk . In 2010 he fully concentrated on the World Cup in Antalya , for which he spent six months preparing intensively. A preparation that produced the greatest possible success, because he was in Antalya in the light heavyweight with the new personal best of 383 kg (173-210) new world champion ahead of Alexei Jufkin , Russia , 380 kg a. Siarhei Lahun , Belarus , 377 kg. He also left the Olympic champion of 2008 and world champion of 2009 Lu Yong from the People's Republic of China behind, who only finished 5th in a duel with 372 kg. In the individual disciplines, he won a World Championship silver medal (tearing) and a World Championship bronze medal (pushing).
At the 2011 World Cup in Paris, Adrian Zielinski was unable to defend his 2010 World Championship. He came with 376 kg (174-202) in a duel behind Kianoush Rostami , Iran, who managed 382 kg (173-209) in a duel and Benjamin Hennequin, France, 378 kg (170-208) in 3rd place. The decisive factor for this were two failed attempts at pushing with 208 kg.
He celebrated the greatest success of his career in 2012. He was Olympic champion in the light heavyweight division in London. His performance was 385 kg (174-211) in a duel. Apti Auchadow from Russia performed the same duel, but was 130 g heavier than Zielinski, who won the gold medal with it.
On August 12, 2016, the Polish Anti-Doping Agency announced that Zieliński had been banned from it due to a positive doping test during preparation for the 2016 Olympic Games .
