Geographical location

Tromm is located in the southwest of the Ober-Scharbach district in the part of the Odenwald called Überwald in the apex region of the ridge, which extends from the 577 meter high Tromm to the north and consists of scattered agricultural farms, between which further buildings have emerged.

history

First mentions as Trumm, Dromm , or Tromm come from the year 1829. Thus, as with Buchklingen, it is a clearing settlement that emerged at the beginning of the 19th century in a village boundary that has existed since ancient times.

The Tromm soon became an excursion destination, which was also taken into account by the 27 meter high Irene Tower, built in 1910 west of the summit . It offered a panoramic view over the Odenwald and especially over the Weschnitz valley in the west. Since then, the district of Tromm has presented itself as a resort with hiking trails and winter sports facilities.

Tromm was part of the municipality of Affolterbach from the beginning and on October 1, 1955 it was re-municipalityed with 23 inhabitants in the municipality of Scharbach (district Ober-Scharbach). As part of the regional reform in Hesse , Tromm was incorporated on August 1, 1972 as part of the community of Scharbach in the community of Grasellenbach.

Transport and infrastructure

Tromm is accessible for road traffic through the district roads K 27 and K 27 a, which branches off from the state road L 3346 during elections and runs through the whole of Scharbach to the Tromm residential area and ends there.

Since 2001, the Hof-Theater-Tromm, under the direction of Jürgen Flügge, has been offering a year-round program in the Theaterscheune and the Trommer Sommer theater festival at the beginning of August .

In the conference rooms of the Odenwald Institute , seminars on the subjects of work, family, communication and personal development are offered.
