Geographical location

Scharbach is located in the valley of the stream of the same name, a right, western side valley of the Ulfenbach in the Odenwald and essentially consists of large agricultural farms scattered throughout the valley, between which some residential developments have arisen.

history

It was first mentioned as "Scharpach" in 1359.

The community of Scharbach was created on July 1, 1953 through the merger of the communities of Unter-Scharbach and Ober-Scharbach . The latter also included the high-lying residential area Tromm in the far west , which on October 1, 1955, with 23 inhabitants from the municipality of Affolterbach, was reunited. As part of the regional reform in Hesse , Scharbach was incorporated into the Grasellenbach community on August 1, 1972. Since then, Scharbach has been considered a district of the municipality as a whole, but is still divided into two districts . Local districts according to the Hessian municipal code were not established.
