European Gymnastics Championships 1992 (women)
The 19th European Gymnastics Championships for women took place in Nantes in 1992, the second time after Paris in 1963 in France . The collapse of the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia caused the number of participating nations to skyrocket. For the first time Russia , Belarus , Ukraine , Estonia , Latvia , Slovenia and Croatia took part in the competitions. After the German reunification , only one German team competed from now on.
In 1992 Ukraine became the most successful nation, but the Belarusian team also attracted attention with a gold medal when they participated for the first time. There was also a premiere for France: For the first time, a medal went to the French ranks.
