European Gymnastics Championships 1987

The 1987 European Gymnastics Championships took place for the first time for both men and women in the same place, namely in Moscow . At the 16th European Women's Championships Daniela Silivaș was able to book four gold medals for herself while Anja Wilhelm of the Federal Republic of Germany secured the second medal at all at the European Women's Championships. Bulgaria won its first silver medal.

For the first time, female athletes from Cyprus and Turkey also competed in the European Women's Championships.
