uMzinyathi , also Umzinyathi , is a district within the province of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa . It has 510,838 inhabitants (as of October 2011) on a total area of ​​8,589 km². The district administration is based in Dundee .

uMzinyathi is the isiZulu name for the Buffalo River , the main river in this district.
