Udenborn is a district of the municipality of Wabern in the north of Hesse in the Schwalm-Eder district .
location
The village is on Landesstraße 3223, near the B 253 , about five kilometers south-east of Fritzlar on a drag slope that extends south to the Eder , on the northern edge of the Großenengliser Platte . The place is surrounded by extensive sand and gravel deposits .
history
In 1040 the place was first mentioned as " Udenbrunnen ". Archbishop Bardo of Mainz received at the end of July 1040 from Emperor Heinrich III. Goods in Holzheim , "Doda", Trockenerfurth and Udenbrunnen (Udenborn) were awarded. The name Udenborn is derived from the original name Udenbrunnen .
Mainz, the Petersstift in Fritzlar and the Haina monastery had unthoughtful possessions, as did various noble families, which, however, replaced each other several times through purchase, pledging, barter and donations, especially with Haina monastery. Known among them are those of Armsfeld, von Englis, von Kirchhain, von Wolfershausen, von Ritte, Matz, von Homberg, von Löwenstein and von Gilsa .
The village belonged to the county of Maden and then to the Landgraviate of Hesse . Vogteigericht was Wabern . Since 1570 the village belonged to the Borken office .
As part of the dispute between the Archdiocese of Mainz and the Hessian Landgrave, in the Hessian Main hissing War of 1427 culminated, Udenborn was established in July 1427 - like many other villages in the area - by troops of the Archbishop of Mainz under Gottfried von Leiningen devastated and burned down. Probably on the same day, July 23, 1427 struck a country Gräfliches army under Landgrave Ludwig I , who had cut off the Mainz troops to retreat to the of Mainz city Fritzlar, this on the Großenengliser plate between the calf castle and today deserted wooden home at Fritzlar decisive.
In 1537 10 houses were counted in Udenborn, in 1585 there were 14 households. In the crew register of 1639, when the Thirty Years' War had already devastated the area, only four "married resident " people and three widows were listed. In 1835 the place had 23 houses and 165 Protestant residents. It's not much bigger today either.
Udenborn was parish off to Kleinenglis in 1585 and has been a church branch of Kleinenglis since 1747. The village church dates from 1798, but was not completed until 1816.
On September 18, 1936, the military parade on the Großenengliser Platte in the presence of Adolf Hitler took place on the Großenengliser Platte between Großenenglis and Udenborn , the largest German military parade since the First World War .
On December 31, 1971, the previously independent place Udenborn was incorporated into the municipality of Wabern.
