The Uhlbach is a 4 km long stream in northeastern Baden-Württemberg , which flows into the Bühler from the right and east at the Spitzenberg farm in the municipality of Bühlerzell in the Schwäbisch Hall district .

geography

course

The Uhlbach arises in the southeastern municipality of Bühlerzell in the middle of the Schönbronn wood between Mangoldshausen in the west and Röhmen in the east from several small gullies that often dry out in summer. The source furthest from the mouth is usually located approximately at the south bend of a small hollow tapering above the northwest at about 475  m . This branch runs southwards, then south-westwards to the valley - here then already accompanied by a better forest path - and after about one kilometer at 441  m it receives a first inflow from the right of about 0.6 km in length, which branches out uphill with very small feathered branches and the West side of the forest drained. 300 meters later, the 1.1 km long Grenzbach follows from the left, which begins in the east in the meadow of the plateau on the edge of the road from Bühlerzell-Kammerstatt to Adelmannsfelden (K 2627) that passes through the Grafenhof holiday park . A short meadow clearing begins at its tributary and the stream turns to the southwest.

A little over two kilometers below its origin, the Uhlbach reaches the edge of the Wiesenflur, where the 1.3 km long Stockwiesenbach flows from the left along the edge of the forest to the Herzert hillside ; The Wiesengewann is named after a deserted area on the edge of the Adelmannsfelden area on the left, which now extends to the brook , of which nothing can be seen in nature. This is also where the K 2629 road from Adelmannsfelden via its hamlet Haid to Bühlerzell-Hochbronn and -Schönbronn crosses the valley, which has now deepened about thirty meters into the surrounding plateau. Immediately afterwards, Hochbronn with its four or five farmsteads sits on the right, on a hilly terrain surrounded by little corridor, which the small street climbs steeply.

Below the stream, which now flows in small meanders, turns more and more on a westward course, the corridor narrows to the meadow-covered floodplain, which is nowhere more than a hundred and sometimes only two dozen meters wide. On its right edge there is a grassy field path in the middle, the Uhlbach itself mostly on the left. Finally it crosses under the valley road L 1072 and then flows out at about 402  m above sea level. NHN less than two kilometers up from Bühlerzell- Senzenberg on a north-western tip of the Adelmannsfelder district from the right and east into the upper Bühler coming from the south .

Catchment area

The Uhlbach has a catchment area of 4.9 km², in natural terms it is located in the lower area of the Ellwanger Mountains of the Swabian-Franconian Forest Mountains . More than three quarters of it is forested. Politically, two thirds of it belongs to the municipality of Bühlerzell in the Schwäbisch Hall district , the remaining part in the south to the municipality of Adelmannsfelden in the Ostalb district . It's roughly the shape of a triangle. Its southwest corner lies at the mouth, the northern near a road fork at the northern end of the Schön Bronner wood , southeastern near the book Weiher between Adelmannsfelden-Vorderwald and -Haid. In the far east it reaches not far from Adelmannsfelden- Mittelwald at 495.1  m above sea level. NHN its greatest height.

In the northwest, the catchment area of the deeper Bühler tributary borders the Gruppenbach , from north to southeast that of the Blinden Rot , which strives to the upper Kocher , in the south the Krebsbach , which flows into the Bühler less than 0.3 km before, competes .

Apart from the hamlet of Hochbronn von Bühlerzell, there are no settlements in the valley. The brook arises in the municipality of Bühlerzell, from the exit into the corridor around Hochbronn, the Uhlbach municipality boundary to the municipality of Adelmannsfelden in the neighboring district on the left bank or follows it closely.

geology

The course and the catchment area of the Uhlbach are in the upper Mittelkeuper . The plateau on both sides of the valley lies in the Stubensandstein ( Löwenstein Formation ), the origin of the stream in its transition area to the Upper Bunten Marln ( Mainhardt Formation ) below . Already at the inlet from the Grafenhof, the brook has cut through this into the silica sandstone ( Hassberge Formation ), which subsequently spreads out on the slopes. From around the beginning of the western course, the brook runs under it at the level of the lower colored marl ( Steigerwald formation ) and also flows out in this way. The stream is accompanied by a Holocene floodplain sediment band from the first right tributary . On the eastern edge of the catchment area, in a stratified island of terrace sediments around a knoll between Bühlerzell- Hinterwald and the golf course, there is an abandoned sand quarry, which is designated and protected as a geotope.

Elsewhere, too, the terrain is very sandy, especially in the upper reaches, and old farm pits can be found in the forest. Moist pits in them indicate layers of marl with clay-rich soil, which sometimes forms small spring horizons.

Nature and protected areas

The upper reaches of the Uhlbach up to its exit from the forest is very natural and up to two meters wide. Clear water flows over a bed, which is cut several meters deep, with sandy to gravelly sediment. The course meanders in sections and shows small impact and sliding slopes. The lower reaches to the west meander in very narrow loops.

The Wiesental in Hochbronn and the open floodplain of the Unterlaufs are in landscape protection areas, the left-hand Adelmannsfelden part of it in the landscape protection area Oberes Bühlertal and the surrounding area , the almost only right-hand Bühlerzeller in the landscape protection area Oberes Bühlertal with side valleys and adjacent areas . The Schönbronner Holz around the origin and the uppermost course is a 1.9 km² water protection area. The Adelmannsfeld catchment area is part of the Swabian-Franconian Forest Nature Park .
