The Ulmbach is a thirteen kilometer long, coarse material-rich, silicate low mountain stream in the Lower Vogelsberg and the Büdinger Forest and a right and northern tributary of the Kinzig in the Hessian districts of Vogelsberg and Main-Kinzig .

geography

course

The Ulmbach rises at an altitude of about 434  m above sea level. NHN in the Freiensteinau district of Fleschenbach at the southern foot of the 620  m high Winterberg .

It initially flows in a southerly direction, its main flow direction, which it maintains up to the mouth, through the village and soon afterwards passes the border from the Vogelsbergkreis to the Main-Kinzig-Kreis. It then runs through the grassland of the Upper Biegelwiesen and then flows through the 36.33 hectares of the Märzgrund nature reserve near Ulmbach . About one kilometer down the stream it reaches the Steinau district of Ulmbach . The stream crosses the village and is then fed on its left by the Weihergraben . The Ulmbach now runs for a good kilometer through the Winnwiesen on the eastern edge of the village, then, accompanied by the L 3195, runs through the meadows of the Wilmegrund and then flows between the wooded hills of the Hohen Stein ( 410  m above sea level ) in the east and the Schwadelsbergs ( 395  m above sea level ) in the west through a narrow valley .

It now runs through fields and meadows east of the Steinau district of Marborn and finally flows south of Marborn at an altitude of about 166  m above sea level. NHN in the Kinzig reservoir .

The approximately 13.4 km long course of the Ulmbach ends about 268 meters below its source, so it has a mean bed gradient of about 20 ‰.

Catchment area
