Ulrich Langenbach

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ulrich Langenbach (born April 25, 1950 in Siegen ) is a German artist and musician who deals with conceptual art, installations , painting , drawings , photos and improvisational music.

Life

In 1994 he received the Ida Gerhardi Prize from the city of Lüdenscheid and in 1995 a working grant from the Kunstfonds Foundation , Bonn. From 1995 to 2000 Ulrich Langenbach held a teaching position at the Freie Kunstakademie Basel and then in 1999/2002 a teaching position at the Bauhaus University Weimar , where he also held a visiting professorship in 2002 . He also held a visiting professorship at the University of Siegen between 2004/2005 .

With his own intuitive mixture of drawing, text, painting, photography and collages, Langenbach creates the shell, the frame, the reference point for the viewer's meaningful content. Paradoxical are his interventions, a bundled exposure of trivialities that construct unfamiliar questions. In spite of this, the word fragments, the parts of the sentence, the radical or philosophical comments seem to assert their place next to his often scenic, uncomplicated comic, line-like naive or grotesquely exaggerated painting.

Ulrich Langenbach is a member of the German Association of Artists and the West German Association of Artists. He lives in Siegen .
