Ulrich Moller (Councilor)

Ulrich Moller (born February 5, 1690 in Hamburg ; † April 28, 1761 there ) was a German merchant and Hamburg councilor .

Origin and family

Moller came from the Hamburg Hanseatic family Moller vom Baum and was a son of the senior elder in the parish of Sankt Nikolai Vincent Moller (1656-1737) and Anna Catharina Pauli (1670-1705).

On May 10, 1723, Moller married the merchant's daughter Catharina Lente (1707–1742). His wife died as a result of having a ninth child. Vincent (1724–1754) and Ulrich (1733–1807) were also merchants of his sons . Of the daughters, Anna Catharina (1727-1770) was married to the senior elder in the parish of Sankt Petri Adolph Schlüter (1716-1804) and Maria was married to the lawyer Georg Günther vam Holte (1729-1778). His sister Maria was married to the Hamburg mayor Lucas von Spreckelsen (1691–1751). Elisabeth Hudtwalcker , nee Moller, was his granddaughter, Vincent's daughter.

Life

Moller worked as a businessman in Hamburg. Already in 1704 his father had bought it among the England drivers and in 1727 it was the owner of the Pröven . As a Hamburg citizen , Moller took on several offices in his hometown. In 1724 he was elected to the Bürgerzoll, in 1726 as adjunct and lap citizen , in 1728 as subdeacon and in 1730 as war commissioner . In 1733 he became provisional at the Spinnhaus and in 1739 a member of the Hamburger Feuerkasse in the parish of Sankt Katharinen . 1742 Moller commercial judge at the court of Hamburg Admiralty and in 1743 a member of the Convoy - deputation . In 1745 he became a jurat at the former main church of St. Nikolai.

On January 8, 1746, Moller was elected councilor for the late Rudolf Amsinck (1688–1745). He held this office for 15 years until his death.

In 1749 he extended the family vicarie at Hamburg Cathedral by 50 years.
