Ulrich Strunz

Ulrich Ernst Theodor Strunz (born November 21, 1943 in Görlitz ) is a German internist , author and former triathlete .

Life

The Strunz family moved to Erlangen in 1945 and Ulrich graduated from the Fridericianum Gymnasium in Erlangen . From 1962 to 1969 he studied physics in Erlangen. His diploma thesis dealt with the topic of gamma spectroscopy in the high energy range . From 1964 to 1971 Strunz also studied human medicine as a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation .

He initially worked as a research assistant at the Erlangen University Medical Center and obtained his doctorate in 1975 on the subject of 13-nle- Motilin : Effect analysis on the gastrointestinal tract of rabbits, guinea pigs, rats and humans . From 1972 to 1980 he researched and published in Erlangen and Los Angeles on the hormonal control of body functions. Since 1978 and 1980, respectively, these qualifications as a specialist in internal medicine and gastroenterology have been recognized.

In 1988 he met the extreme athlete Hubert Schwarz , who prompted him to start the sport of triathlon . In 1989 he took part in all five Ironman events (Roth, Japan, New Zealand, Canada and Hawaii).

At Ultraman in Hawaii he was first in his age group. In the years that followed, up to 1992, he took part in almost all the important Ironman events and in 1992 took third place in the 1000-kilometer Texas race, a cycling race across the US state of Texas .

Together with Michael Spitzbart , Strunz organized seminars on creativity and high performance and slim and fit forever in 1993 . For this purpose, two books of the same name were created, which are not freely available in bookshops. In 1998 the magazine Wirtschaftswoche gave him the title of Fitness Pope . In the same year his first book available in bookshops was published, entitled The Path to Creativity and High Performance . With the book Forever young - The program of success , he booked a great success; in 2000, 1.1 million of his books were sold within nine months. In the following years Ulrich Strunz wrote numerous other books on the subject of fitness. He also appeared frequently on television between 2002 and 2004.

After an accident with a racing bike on Mallorca , Strunz was operated on several times in 2006 due to serious injuries and then ended his career as a triathlete.

In cooperation with the confectionery manufacturer Haribo , the fruit gum products forever fun and forever fun plus have appeared on the market .
