Urs Affolter
Urs Affolter (born April 3, 1958 in Zurich ; † June 28, 2016 in Hamburg ) was a Swiss actor and musical performer .
Life
Urs Affolter received his artistic training at the Zurich Acting Academy . Fixed engagements led him to the Deutsches Theater Göttingen from 1983 to 1987 . Between 1987 and 1990 he was engaged at the theaters in Baden-Baden and Bremen as well as at the Theater des Westens in Berlin. From 1990 to 1995 he was a member of the Kiel Theater , and from 1996 to 1997 of the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe . Since 1997 Affolter has been living freelance in Hamburg and has performed as guest performers at the State Theater in Nuremberg , at the National Theater in Mannheim , at the Hessian State Theater in Wiesbaden , at the Kiel Opera House , at the Bielefeld Theater , at the Rostock Volkstheater , on the Walensee stage in Walenstadt and at the Gelsenkirchener Musiktheater im Revier . In Hamburg he performed at the Schmidt Theater and the Kehrwieder Theater in the Speicherstadt .
Affolter played the title roles in the Goethe plays Reineke Fuchs and Torquato Tasso , as well as in The Conspiracy of Fiesco in Genoa by Friedrich Schiller . He was also Christian mask in Carl Sternheim's comedy Der Snob , Malvolio in Was Ihr wollt by William Shakespeare and Wetter vom Strahl in Heinrich von Kleist's play Das Käthchen von Heilbronn . As a musical performer, he impersonated both the language professor Higgins (Theater Bielefeld) and the garbage driver Alfred P. Doolittle (Walensee stage), among other roles in My Fair Lady , at the Kiel Theater he was the conférencier in Cabaret , at the Don Quijote opera house in Der Mann from La Mancha and Styx in Orpheus in the underworld . In Wiesbaden he played Albin in La Cage aux Folles , in Nuremberg the audience saw him in Silk Stockings . In February 2011 had All alone. A night with Roy Black , a homage designed by Affolter to the pop singer who died in 1991 , premiered at the Kehrwieder Theater.
Affolter was rarely in front of the camera. He also appeared in some commercial radio play productions such as Die Drei ??? or A case for TKKG with and taught for a time at the Hamburg Joop van den Ende Academy .
Urs Affolter died unexpectedly in Hamburg at the end of June 2016 and found his final resting place in the Manegg cemetery in Zurich .
