Václav Bolemír Nebeský
Václav Bolemír Nebeský (born August 18, 1818 in Nový Dvůr , † August 17, 1882 in Prague ) was a Czech poet.
Life
In 1836 Nebeský graduated from high school and studied at the philosophical faculty of Charles University in Prague . In 1843 he moved to Vienna , interrupted his studies and worked as a private tutor. In 1846 he returned to Prague and worked as an educator for the President of the Czech Museum , the knight Jan Norbert z Neuburka , who was connected to his homeland . He also took an active part in cultural life, was friends with Boleslav Jablonský , Josef Kajetán Tyl , Karel Jaromír Erben and, since 1843, with Božena Němcová .
In 1848 he was elected to the National Committee, in which he prepared the Slavs Congress and took part in the meetings in Vienna in Kremsier as an envoy of the Reichsrat . In his mind he joined the people's enlighteners František Palacký and Karel Havlíček Borovský . At this time he also began to publish in newspapers, including the Volksblatt .
In 1849 he completed his habilitation in Greek history and Czech literature. In 1850 he succeeded Jan Erazim Vocel as editor of the magazine Muzejník , which he headed until 1861. In 1851 he was appointed secretary of the Czech Museum and administrator of the museum treasury. In 1874 he fell seriously ill and retired early. He was active for Matice česká , Umělecká beseda and for the Association for the Construction of the National Theater .
Works
His love was poetry. In addition to his own books, he translated dramas by Greek poets and was an enthusiastic supporter of the works of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe , Heinrich Heine , Nikolaus Lenau , George Gordon Byron , Adam Mickiewicz , Juliusz Słowacki , Alexander Sergejewitsch Pushkin and Karel Hynek Mácha . He was also active as a literary critic.
In his philosophical contributions, he described this science as an indispensable part of national education. He represented the thoughts of Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph von Schelling , Johann Gottlieb Fichte , Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel and Johann Gottfried Herder .
