The transport companies Plön GmbH (VKP) is a transport company for public transport services are used, the Plon operates several bus routes in the county. The company was founded on June 29, 1965 by the district of Plön , the cities of Lütjenburg and Preetz and the community of Schönberg .
history
On March 1, 1966, the first regular service began by taking over the company Wulf & Sohn, Schönberg. Eight motor vehicles and two trailers were taken over. After the takeover of the Blekendorf school bus service in April 1966, Plön city traffic followed in September 1966, operations on the Plön – Bornhöved and Plön – Nettelsee routes for the Bundespost and, in October 1966, the Lepahn - Falkendorf –Preetz line.
In 1966, 13 overland routes, a school bus service and a city service were served. In 1970, 45 employees and a total of 38 buses of the brands Büssing (17), Magirus-Deutz (6) and Mercedes-Benz (15) were used on 18 lines and the depots in Bornhöved, Plön and Schönberg with workshops, service and social rooms essentially completed. In 1973 another depot was added in Lütjenburg.
The workforce had increased to 88 by 1975, there were 25 lines and 19 school transports operated. 57 own and 5 rented buses were available for this.
In 1980 the Preetz city traffic was added, 98 employees with 82 buses served 31 lines with a total length of 623 km. The new tourism department in Kiel organized trips across Europe with twelve coaches. The VKP closed this division at the beginning of 2013 and have not run their own tourist trips since then.
In 1985 VKP was granted concessions for the bus routes from Plön to Hohwacht and from Plön via Ascheberg to Bornhöved, Nettelsee, Stocksee and Neumünster . After the Neumünster – Ascheberg railway line was closed, bus traffic began on September 29, 1985. Almost all of the school bus traffic has been converted to public service.
From May 5, 1985, a tariff community for the mutual recognition of tickets was set up on the Kiel – Schönkirchen section of the bus route to Schönberg. At this point in time, with the exception of the Kiel – Plön and Kiel – Oldenburg lines, all regional regular services in the Plön district will be served by VKP.
On December 15, 2019 the "Netz Mitte" in the Schwentinental area was taken over. With that 6 new lines were introduced by the VKP.

Railway operations
From 1967 the VKP was operated in an administrative partnership with the Kiel-Schönberger Railway (KSE). The management was the responsibility of the German Railway Company (DEG) in Frankfurt am Main. After the closure of the Kleinbahn Kiel – Segeberg in 1969, motor traffic was started on this line.
After the management contract with DEG came to an end in 1980, its shares in KSE were taken over by the city of Kiel. With effect from January 1, 1982, the VKP took over the state's shares in the KSE. The KSE merged with the VKP, but continued to operate under the name KSE.
Since March 1, 2006, VKP has only been active as a railway infrastructure company for the twelve-kilometer Kiel-Oppendorf -Schönberg line of the former Kiel-Schönberg Railway.
The Kiel Süd – Kiel-Oppendorf – Kiel Ostuferhafen section is now operated by AKN, whose electronic interlocking has also been used for train control since August 2015.
The museum train journeys between Kiel, Schönberg and Schönberger Strand are carried out by the Association of Traffic Amateurs and Museum Railways (VVM).
Others
Since 1973 the administration / management is located in the newly built office building of the KSE at Diedrichstraße 5 on the site of the former small train station Kiel Süd. Depots are set up in Plön, Preetz, Schönberg, Lütjenburg and Bornhöved.
The company's activities in the bus tourism sector were discontinued after the end of the 2012 travel year for economic reasons.
