Hotels of the Van der Valk chain in Germany

Van der Valk Hotels & Restaurants is the largest Dutch hotel chain . It originated in a café opened in Voorschoten in 1862 and today comprises 93 hotels. It is run by the fourth generation of the Van der Valk family. In Germany alone, the chain operates 14 hotels, which are coordinated by Van der Valk Deutschland GmbH . The hotel chain's logo is a stylized toucan .

In addition to the business with hotels , restaurants and holiday homes, the group also has two ski halls .

history

The first Van der Valk Hotel was founded in 1939 by the married couple Martien and Riet van der Valk on the basis of the café "De Gouden Leeuw", which they took over in 1929 . It was on a farm that Nicolaas van der Valk bought in 1862. The Van der Valk family took over the Avifauna bird park with hotel and restaurant in Alphen aan den Rijn in 1956 and ran it until 2012, when a foundation has been operating the bird park. After the Second World War, the company expanded through the activities of the children of the founding family. This was reinforced by Martien van der Valk's efforts that each of his children should run and run their own business. This philosophy is still being pursued today in a modified manner. The group has been structured as a franchise company since 2000 , but with the stipulation that every franchisee should be a descendant of the founder.

In 1986 the expansion to Germany began with the opening of the hotel in Moers.

The hotels and restaurants of the Van der Valk chain, according to their own statements, live from a warm, familiar atmosphere that results from the family structure of the company. The hotels themselves are mostly geared towards families.

deals

The hotels usually include restaurants that are not only aimed at hotel visitors. In addition, there are holiday homes at two locations in Germany, which are somewhat spread out and not far from the associated hotel complexes.

The individual branches each offer different arrangements independently of one another, which mostly include and convey tourist highlights in the vicinity. There are, among other things, packages aimed at families and couples, active and wellness offers as well as seasonal offers such as Easter, Christmas or special holidays. Many hotels also offer weddings. There are also special offers for business travelers and companies.

The Van-der-Valk Group also has other branches in Germany, such as the ski halls Alpincenter Bottrop and alpincenter Hamburg-Wittenburg and the water ski lift on Kiessee Neu Zachun .
