Velo-Vocha ( pronunciation : [ ˈvɛlɔ ˈvɔxa ], Greek Βέλο ( n. Sg. ) - Βόχα ( f. Sg. )) Is a municipality in the north of the Greek peninsula of Peloponnese . It was formed in 2011 through the merger of the municipalities of Velo and Vocha, which in turn were formed in 1997 from 15 small municipalities. The largest settlement and parish seat is the city of Zevgolatio with 4697 inhabitants; further urban settlements are Vrachati (3338 Ew.) and Velo (3203 Ew.). Velo-Vocha is located on the Peloponnesian north coast on the road and railroad connection Corinth - Patras and extends around 15 kilometers into the mountainous interior, where it borders on Nemea in the south . The neighboring municipality to the west is Sikyona , in the east Velo-Vocha borders on Corinth.
Community structure
The 15 municipalities that existed until 1997 have had the status of urban districts (Ez. Gr. Dimotiki kinotita ) or local communities (topiki kinotita) since 2011 and elect a council to represent the local community. The population figures come from the results of the 2011 census.
