The Vicco district is located in the Pasco province in the Pasco region in central Peru . The district was founded on March 17, 1958 and has an area of ​​171 km². The 2017 census counted 3561 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 3293, in 2007 it was 2730. The district administration is located in the 4114  m high village of Vicco with 1500 inhabitants (as of 2017). Vicco is located about 17 km south of the provincial and regional capital Cerro de Pasco .

Geographical location

The Vicco district is located on the western edge of the Peruvian Central Cordillera in the south of the Pasco province. The Río San Juan, a right tributary of the Río Mantaro , flows south along the western district boundary. In the south, the district extends to the north shore of Lake Junín .

The Vicco district is bordered to the south by the district Ondores ( province of Junín ), the west by the district Huayllay , in the northwest on the district Simon Bolivar , to the north by the district Tinyahuarco and the east by the district Ninacaca .
