Victor SK Houston

Victor Stewart Kaleoaloha Houston (born July 22, 1876 in San Francisco , California , † July 31, 1959 in Honolulu , Hawaii ) was an American politician . Between 1927 and 1933 he represented the Hawaii Territory as a delegate in the US House of Representatives .

Early years

After primary school, Victor Houston foreign schools, like the school in visited Dresden in Saxony and the district school in Swiss Lausanne . He then graduated from the Force School in Washington . Eventually he became a cadet at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis . After successfully completing this academy, he became a member of the US Navy until 1926 , where he served in various ranks. From 1909 he was based in Hawaii.

Political career

Victor Houston became a Republican member . In the congressional elections of 1926 he was elected as a delegate to Congress against the Democratic incumbent William Paul Jarrett . After two re-elections in 1928 and 1930, he was able to exercise this mandate between March 4, 1927 and March 3, 1933. In 1928 and 1932 he was a delegate at the respective Republican National Conventions . In the 1932 elections he was defeated by Democrat Lincoln Loy McCandless .

Another résumé

After his time in the US House of Representatives, Houston withdrew from politics. However, he was reactivated as a naval officer after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. During the Second World War he remained in the US Navy until March 1, 1945. After that he retired again. Victor Houston died in Honolulu in 1959.
