In this, she initially belonged to the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee, and since January 28, 2015 also to the Readiness Subcommittee.

On September 18, 2014, Gabbard introduced Bill (HR5594) temporarily suspending visa- free entry to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program for passport holders from countries known to be eligible for ISIS or al-Qaeda affiliated groups are fighting.

On November 4, 2014, Gabbard was re-elected to the House of Representatives for District 2.

On April 9, 2015 Gabbard married the cameraman Abraham Williams with a Hindu wedding ceremony on Oahu .

On September 24, Gabbard took a resolution (H.RES.435) in the House of Representatives, with the persecution of religious and ethnic minorities, particularly Christians and Yazidis to be recognized by the Islamic State and the priority for immediate recognition of refugees from calls the persecuted groups.

On October 12, 2015, Gabbard was promoted to major.

As Vice-Chair of the DNC, she came into conflict with Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz in mid-October 2015 about the number and sanctioning of the debates in the context of the Democratic Party's primary elections for the 2016 presidential election in the United States .

On November 19, 2015, Gabbard and the Republican Austin Scott brought a bill to the House of Representatives (HR4108) to prohibit the federal government and its authorities from engaging in the opposition to the civil war in Syria or other groups or individuals who are promoting the overthrow of the Syrian government operate, support. In a press release, Gabbard spoke of an illegal and counterproductive war by the United States against the government of Bashar al-Assad , which must be ended immediately in order to focus on the fight against Islamist terrorists in Syria such as the Islamic State, the Nusra Front and Ahrar focus al-shame .

Also on November 19, 2015, Gabbard voted in favor of a bill introduced by the Republicans to the House of Representatives on the occasion of the terrorist attacks on November 13, 2015 in Paris, which aims to tighten the review process for refugees from the civil war in Syria and Iraq to such an extent that the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation , the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security and the Director of National Intelligence must certify each refugee individually for safety; President Obama announced that he would use his veto. Gabbard also spoke out in favor of putting the Visa Waiver Program on hold.

On February 28, 2016, Gabbard publicly endorsed Bernie Sanders' candidacy for president, citing her view that the United States should not wage interventionist regime change wars. At the same time, she resigned her position as DNC Vice-Chair, as this obliges her to be neutral.

She criticized Obama and Hillary Clinton for not using the term “radical Islamic terror” for groups like al-Qaeda and ISIS for fear of the misunderstanding of indicting all Muslims.

Gabbard spoke out against the recognition of Juan Guaidós as interim president in Venezuela by the State Department.

At the end of October 2019, Gabbard announced that he would not run for her mandate again in the 2020 election. She wants to focus on her presidential candidacy.

Pre-election candidate for the 2020 presidency

On January 24, 2019, Tulsi Gabbard officially announced her candidacy for the 2020 US presidential election and thus her participation in the Democratic Party primaries. As the most important motive of her candidacy, she named the resistance to interventionist wars in the USA, referring to her own experience as a soldier in Iraq. She accused the USA of waging a "new cold war ". More than any other candidate, she puts foreign policy at the center of her campaign. Gabbard advocates a two-state solution between Israel and Palestine. She maintained good relations with Indian nationalist circles, according to research by The Intercept at least 105 members of nationalist Hindu organizations donated several hundred thousand dollars for their election campaigns from 2011 to 2018. Their relations with Hindu nationalist organizations such as the Vishva Hindu Parishad , whose American sections also financially supported their election campaigns , met with criticism from South Asian migrants .

Gabbard calls for American troops to be withdrawn from abroad. Gabbard wants to withdraw American troops from Afghanistan as quickly as possible and calls for an end to Saudi Arabia's support in the war in Yemen ; In this context, Donald Trump accused them of making the USA the “prostitute of Saudi Arabia”. In an earlier statement she also called Trump "Saudi Arabia's Bitch ". In 2017, she introduced a bill in the House of Representatives prohibiting the US from supporting underground fighters or governments that have open or covert relationships with ISIS, al-Qaeda or Jabhat Fateh al-Sham.

Gabbard advocates an expansion of the state health care Medicare to all US citizens, but wants to allow exceptions. She advocates the abolition of private prisons and mandatory minimum sentences. Abortion is said to be largely free of impunity, and the Supreme Court's decision of principle on this subject is to become law. Before buying a weapon, potential buyers should be checked; the sale of automatic firearms should be prohibited. Basically, however, Gabbard expressly acknowledges the right to carry a weapon guaranteed in the constitution . Gabbard wants to abolish the Electoral College and make voting on paper, not electronically, compulsory. She advocates an increase in the minimum wage to $ 15 an hour, wants to separate investment banking and customer business, similar to the Glass-Steagall Act , abolish offshore tax advantages and smash large social media groups .

In October 2019, Hillary Clinton warned, without naming Gabbard, that Russia would again promote a third candidate in the 2020 elections. This referred the reporting broadcaster CNN to Gabbard, pointing out that Clinton had said the same thing in 2016 about candidate Jill Stein . Gabbard denied this claim. NBC had already claimed in February that channels close to the Kremlin would report on Gabbard with remarkable frequency and positive results. Matt Taibbi sees attempts in the Democratic Party to denounce unpopular positions as treason in favor of external enemies.

In an interview, Glenn Greenwald praised Gabbard's position against regime change policy and her independent, critical thinking; this is why she is hated by the Democratic establishment. But he criticized their closeness to Hindu nationalists, their sympathy for some of the worst dictators and their support for the " war on terror ".

She was the only MP to abstain from the vote on whether to initiate impeachment proceedings against President Trump. You cannot vote against impeachment with a clear conscience because you believe that Trump is guilty of the wrongdoing, but you cannot vote in good conscience either because the impeachment of a president should not be the result of an escalating party feud, fueled by tribal hostility.

In the primary elections on March 3, 2020, Gabbard managed to win two delegate seats for the election meeting of the Democrats in American Samoa .

She withdrew her application on March 19, 2020, justifying this with the COVID-19 pandemic and announced that she would support Joe Biden in the future.
