Viehhausen is a district of the community Sinzing and a parish village in the district of Regensburg .

history

Viehhausen is mentioned for the first time around 1180 in a document from the Sankt Emmeram monastery in Regensburg , in which a Pruno von Viehhausen is mentioned. The two districts of Oberviehhausen and Niederviehhausen initially developed separately from one another. The Niederviehhausen castle was probably built around 1200 and was first owned by the Chamerauers, then the Wolfsteiners. Later Hanns Dunksäß, Thomas Hietinger, Jakob Kaiser, Wolf Steurer and Jakob Kraiß are named as owners. The year of construction of Oberviehhausen Castle is not known. The Hofmark Oberviehhausen initially also belonged to the Chamerauers , then Hadamar von Laaber , from 1435 to the Reisachers, around 1570 to Leonhard Sauerzapf and from 1600 to the Rosenbuschs . The castle and palace were destroyed in the Thirty Years War . In 1681 Franz Wilhelm Rosenbusch had the palace rebuilt.

Statue of St. Ivo in Viehausen

From the rose bushes a statue of St. Ivo , the patron saint of lawyers. The coat of arms of the Rosenbusch and Stingelheim families and the year 1760 can be found in the base of the statue.

After the Rosenbusch line died out, the Hofmark Viehhausen fell to Franz von Lerchenfeld-Brennberg in 1777 . In the course of the formation of the community after the second community edict in 1818, Viehhausen was assigned to the Kelheim district court until 1879. The respective Lord von Viehhausen exercised a patrimonial jurisdiction . In 1852 the Order of the Poor Clares acquired the castle and set up a monastery and a girls' school there. In 1867 the foundation stone for a church was laid in Viehhausen, which was consecrated in 1879.

In the course of the regional reform in Bavaria , the communities of Sinzing, Viehhausen, Eilsbrunn and Bergmatting-Reichenstetten merged on July 1, 1972 to form the large community of Sinzing.
