The Skalice (German Skalitz ) is a left tributary of the Lomnice in the Czech Republic .

course

The Skalice rises in the Brdská vrchovina in the Kotel ( mouse hole ) on the northwest slope of the Kobylí hlava ( Stallion , 756 m) at the Červená hut at an altitude of 678 m in three source streams that unite to the Kotelský potok . Its course leads first to the east over Hutě pod Třemšínem, where it feeds the ponds Velký kotelský rybník, Malý kotelský rybník and Obžera, to Starý Rožmitál and Rožmitál pod Třemšínem . Here the Kotelský potok at the castle is directed into the Podzámecký rybník.

From Rožmitál pod Třemšínem the brook bears the name Skalice . It flows over Sadonice, U Pátého Hamru, Podhora, Skuhrov, Pňovice and Oslí into the Central Bohemian hill country. There the stream turns to its further course via Valcha, Zadní Poříčí, Přední Poříčí, Xaverov, Nový Mlýn and Březnice in a southerly direction.

On the section below Březnice the river Vlčava , formerly called Božes, is called. It winds in a bend in the river near Bor and Dobrá Voda around the Bozeň Ridge to the east and changes its direction again to the south at the castle ruins of Hrochův Hrádek . Along the Vlčava are Stražiště , Na Drahách, Lhotka, Myslín , Urbanův Mlýn, Podskalí, Plíškovice and Mirovice .

Below Mirovice the river bears the name Skalice again . The Skalice flows south via Zámostí, Horosedly , Dolní Nerestce , Horní Nerestce , Krsice , Na Pohodnici, Čimelice , Bisingrov, Větrov, Smetanova Lhota , Podelhota, U Mostu, Kozí Hrady and Varvažov . The lowest section of the river, about two kilometers long, runs through a narrow valley with rock formations and is part of the storage space of the Orlík Dam . In the Doupata forest near Ostrovec , the river flows into the Orlík dam after 52.34 km at an altitude of 348 m in the Lomnice . The catchment area of the Skalice is 375 km².

The railway line between Rožmitál pod Třemšínem and Březnice and a section of the Příbram - Písek line between Xaverov and Smetanova Lhota runs along the river .

The river section below the confluence with the Lomnice was previously attributed to the Skalice, so the Skalice was considered to be the tributary of the Otava and the longer and more watery, but flowing from a narrow valley on the right side, Lomnice was considered to be the tributary of the Skalice.
