Vogelfrey (pronounced Vogelfrei) is a German folk rock band with dominant metal influences from Hamburg-Bergedorf .

history

The band was founded by Christopher Plünnecke together with the brothers Jannik and Dominik Schmidt in the winter of 2003/2004. The first rehearsal took place in March 2004. In the full cast, a decision was made on the style and name of the group. After various concerts in the vicinity of the Hanseatic city, the preliminary decision of the Local Heroes Band Contest was won in the Hamburg market hall and Hamburg was represented in the final in Magdeburg, which significantly increased Vogelfrey's awareness. This was followed by first appearances at major festivals such as the Hörnerfest and the Black Troll Festival. Vogelfrey also played as the opening act for Corvus Corax u. a. further attention in Schwerin Castle . In spring 2010 they supported the band Ingrimm on their "Lumpenpack" tour together with Cumulo Nimbus as the opening act . In the summer of 2010, Vogelfrey u. a. at the Celtic Rock Open Air at Burg Greifenstein . After a self-produced demo, the band received a recording contract with Trollzorn Records in 2010 , through which they released their debut album Wiegenfest on October 31, 2010 . The album was produced by Daniel Bernath in the "Übersound Recording Studios".

In 2011 Vogelfrey u. a. at the Hörnerfest, the Rockharz Open Air and the Summer Breeze . On May 18, 2012 the band released their second album Twelve Steps to Rope . a. at the Fire Dance Festival at Abenberg Castle , the Wacken Open Air and Burgfolk . In autumn 2012 the band went on tour in Germany for the first time as a headliner. On August 6, 2012, the band released their first music video for the song Sturmgesang , which was first released on the Metalville label on August 28, 2015 with the third album Sturm und Klang . The album In Ekstase was released on September 29, 2017 . Music videos for the songs Crystal Met, Medieval Rock Star and Tanz were produced for me for this album .

The fifth studio album Nachtwache followed on October 25, 2019 , with videos being produced for three songs again. Era of steel, shake your head and do you like the middle ages . Chris Harms from the band Lord of the Lost has a guest appearance on this song .

Sturm & Klang Festival

In March 2015 Vogelfrey organized the Sturm und Klang Festival , their own festival in Gruenspan , where they played together with Adorned Brood , Harpyie , Incantatem and Off Limits. April 2016 they played together with Stahlmann , Reliquiae and Johnny Deathshadow in Knust . In October 2017 they played there again with Die Vorboten , Incantatem and Forgotten North. On October 12, 2018, the festival took place for the first time in the Kulturpalast Hamburg , this time Reliquiae, Terra Atlantica and Barayan formed the cast.
