Wilkanów (German Wölfelsdorf ) is a village in the municipality of Bystrzyca Kłodzka ( Habelschwerdt ) in the powiat Kłodzki in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in Poland. It is located six kilometers southeast of Bystrzyca Kłodzka and extends nine kilometers along the Wölfelbach ( Wilczka ).
history
The stately farming village was first mentioned in 1341 as "Wolfilsdorf". It belonged to the Habelschwerdt district in the Glatzer Land , with which it shared the history of its political and ecclesiastical affiliation.
The rule of Wölfelsdorf originally belonged to the Lords of Glubos ( Glaubitz ) on Mittelwalde , from around 1430–1531 to the Lords of Tschischwitz ( Zischwitz ), around 1552 to Georg Primster von Kammerstein and around 1560 to the von Gellhorn family. In 1597 it came to Michael von Tschirnhaus , after his death in 1607 to his sons Friedrich, Hans and David Heinrich, who were elevated to the status of barons . At the same time, the Wölfelsdorf fiefdom was inherited . As a supporter of the winter king Friedrich of the Palatinate , David Heinrich von Tschirnhaus was appointed by him on May 12, 1620 as governor of Glatzer . After the imperial regained Glatz in 1622, David Heinrich was removed from office. Because of his participation in the Bohemian uprising of 1618, his possessions were confiscated by Emperor Ferdinand II . 1653 came Wölfelsdorf to the imperial counts of Althann . The Governor of Glatz, Michael Wenzel von Althann (1630–1686), built the four-storey castle in 1681–1686, which - together with the associated property - belonged to the von Althann family until the expropriation in 1945.
Together with the County of Glatz, Wölfelsdorf fell to Prussia after the First Silesian War in 1742 and finally after the Peace of Hubertusburg in 1763 . In 1807 the estate was abolished. After the reorganization of Prussia, it belonged to the province of Silesia from 1815 and was incorporated into the district of Habelschwerdt from 1818 to 1945 . In 1874 the district of Wölfelsdorf was formed from the rural communities of Urnitz, Weisbrodt, Wölfelsdorf and Wölfelsgrund and the manor districts of Urnitz, Weisbrodt and Wölfelsdorf.
As a result of the Second World War , Wölfelsdorf and most of Silesia fell to Poland in 1945 and was renamed Wilkanów . The German population was expelled . Some of the new residents were displaced from eastern Poland . 1975-1998 Wilkanów belonged to the Wałbrzych Voivodeship ( Waldenburg ).
