Waakhausen is a part of the community of Worpswede in the Osterholz district in Lower Saxony . The place is 4.5 km southwest of the core area of Worpswede.
The Waakhausen campsite has existed since 1933; it was founded by the German Canoe Association (DKV).
The Hamme , a right tributary of the Weser, flows northwest of Waakhausen .
The Hamme-Altarm nature reserve is located between Waakhausen and Osterholz-Scharmbeck .
On March 1, 1974 Waakhausen was incorporated into the municipality of Worpswede.
