Elections to the Council of Experts of Iran 1998
The 1998 elections to the Council of Experts of Iran took place on October 23, 1998 and were the first elections to the Council of Experts since the reform-minded Mohammad Chātami won the Iranian presidential election in 1997 . The Guardian Council only admitted about 1/3 of all candidates for election; voter turnout was low despite the reformers calling for participation in the election.
