Presidential election in Iran in October 1981
The Iranian presidential elections in October 1981 took place on October 2, 1981 .
The elections became necessary because Mohammad Ali Radschāʾi , who was elected on July 24, 1981 ( see: Presidential election in Iran in July 1981 ) , fell victim to a bomb attack on August 30 of the same year in the official residence of Prime Minister Mohammed Jawad Bahonar . Won the elections that of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini favored Hujjat al-Islam Ali Khamenei abundantly clear. Khamene'i became Khomeini's successor in 1989 and has been the leader of the revolution ever since . The turnout was 74.26%.
