Friedrich August Waldemar Freiherr von Gregory (born August 24, 1854 in Berlin , † December 18, 1932 in Bunzlau , Lower Silesia Province ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Gregory joined the Infantry Regiment No. 91 of the Prussian Army in 1873 from the Cadet Corps as a Second Lieutenant and served as a battalion adjutant from 1881 to 1882. In 1882 he was promoted to prime lieutenant. From 1882 to 1882 he was a regimental adjutant. In 1889 he was promoted to captain and company commander and in 1897 was transferred to Infantry Regiment No. 164 . After being promoted to the surplus major in 1898, Gregory was transferred to the 2nd Nassau Infantry Regiment No. 88 on April 18, 1900 as a battalion commander. In 1905 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel , in 1908 to colonel and in April of that year he became the commander of the infantry regiment “von der Marwitz” (8th Pomeranian) No. 61 . On April 1, 1910 he was appointed commander of the Glatz Fortress . In this position, Gregory received on 19 July 1911 character as a Major General and was awarded the on January 23, 1913 the Crown awarded II. Class.

During the First World War , Gregory served as a brigade commander in the 50th Reserve Division . On August 12, 1916, he was put up for disposition with the statutory pension in approval of his resignation request. Shortly afterwards, on September 14, 1916, he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd Class with Oak Leaves. In addition, he received the character of lieutenant general at the end of the year.
