Walter Schneider (politician, 1949)

Walter Schneider (born June 22, 1949 in Grevenbrück ) is a German lawyer and local politician. From 2004 to February 29, 2012, he was District Administrator of the Lörrach district in the southwest of Baden-Württemberg .

Life

Education and professional career

Schneider attended the Fridericianum high school in Erlangen . After graduating from high school in 1968, he began his law studies at the Universities of Erlangen and Freiburg , which he completed with the state examination in 1977.

From 1977 to 1979 Schneider worked in the legal department of the Landeskreditbank Baden-Württemberg . He worked from 1979 to 1982 as a housing consultant in the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Interior . From 1982 to 1991 he was the department head for construction and transport in the Lake Constance district . From 1991 to 2004 Schneider was deputy district administrator for the district of Waldshut .

Walter Schneider was able to prevail clearly against his opponents, Gert Klaiber and Joachim Kruschwitz, in the district election of the district of Lörrach in 2003 and was chosen to succeed Alois Rübsamen . He took office on March 1, 2004; On December 14, 2011, the mayor of Loerrach, Marion Dammann, was elected as his successor .

Walter Schneider worked from July 1, 2012 to March 2020 at a law firm in Weil am Rhein.
