The change is a mountain pass in the Bavarian Alps between Rottach-Egern and Valepp . Its peak is 1031  m above sea level. NN . The name of the pass transition results from an abbreviation for "change between the waters", an old name for a watershed . What is meant in this case is the culmination point between the rivers Weisse Valepp and Rottach . Both drain into the Inn , the Rottach over the Tegernsee and the Mangfall , the White Valepp over the Brandenberger Ache .

An asphalt private toll road runs over the change in an east-west direction , which connects Rottach-Egern with the forester's house Valepp (sometimes also called Valepp-Alm ). The change is only a few kilometers north of the German-Austrian border and is located in a clearing; In contrast, both the eastern and western pass driveways run mostly through densely forested areas. The Suttensee is about 200 meters north of the Wechsel . The Sutten skiing and hiking area extends north and north-east of the pass and connects to the Spitzingsee area on the Stümpfling .

The bus route 9560 ( Tegernsee train station - Spitzingsee church ) of the Upper Bavaria regional transport runs over the pass road between mid-May and mid-October, and serves the Wechsel Suttengebiet stop located directly on the top of the pass several times a day.

Near the lodge Valepp the combined White Valepp with the Red Valepp . At the parking lot there, the east ramp to Wechsel and the south ramp to Spitzingsee and Spitzingsattel begin . The asphalt road to Spitzingsee in the valley of the Rote Valepp is closed to private vehicles including motorcycles. When going down by bike, you have to expect buses, supply and forest vehicles.
