The Zellergrundbach , which is called Weipoltshausener Dorfgraben on its upper course , is a left and north-northeastern tributary of the Marienbach almost ten kilometers long, first in the district of Schweinfurt and then in the independent city of Schweinfurt in Bavaria . The entire course of the stream is accompanied by the district road SW 30 / SW 30 .

geography

course

The Zellergrundbach rises as Weipoltshausener Dorfgraben in the west of the Schweinfurt Rhön (Hesselbacher Waldland) at an altitude of approx.  373  m above sea level. NHN , just under a kilometer northwest of the village of Hoppachshof, which belongs to Üchtelhausenen . Its source is in an agriculturally used clearing in Hoppachsgrund on the edge of the Klingenholz forest , in which there is a small pond just above the source.

The Weipoltshausener Dorfgraben initially flows in a west-southwest direction through the Hoppachsgrund, then slowly changes to a south-westerly course in a waldenge and then flows through the Üchtelhausen district of Weipoltshausen . North of the district of Zell it flows to about 275  m above sea level. NHN on its right side is a stream coming from the Jeusinggrund in the north. From there, the creek previously called Weipoltshausener Dorfgraben bears the name Zellergrundbach . The Zellergrundbach now runs through the village of Zell, then flows almost southwards through a narrow, wooded Kerbtal valley to the east at up to about 335  m above sea level. NHN high Haardtberg past, then reaches the district boundary to Schweinfurt and is fed there on its left by the outflow of the linden fountain. In the Schweinfurt area, the stream continues to run south through the Zellergrund , west along the city forest and is strengthened on the northeast edge of the Schweinfurt district of Haardt on its left by a small forest stream. This forest brook only carries water all year round from a tributary from the Jägerbrunnen .

The Zellergrundbach now runs between the aforementioned district in the west and the wildlife park to the east, past the oaks , then flows west past the Schweinfurt district of Steinberg and finally flows from the north-northeast in Schweinfurt at an altitude of 220  m above sea level. NHN a little south of Walter-von-der-Vogelweide-Strasse and east of Dittelbrunner Strasse from the left into the Marienbach approaching from the north-northwest .

Catchment area

The Zellergrundbach has a catchment area of around 24.2 km², which in natural terms is part of the Hesselbacher Waldland (Schweinfurter Rhön) in the Main Franconian plateau , in the middle of which the north-western sub-area the water rises and on the south-western edge of its southern sub-area to the also in the Main-Franconian plateau Schweinfurt Basin it flows into.

The catchment area has the contour of a pointed wedge tapering to the south-southwest and is larger than that of the receiving Marienbach up to its mouth. Because the major tributaries all come from the right, the Zellergrundbach always runs very close to the left watershed.

The with approx. 417  m above sea level. NHN highest point is on the short north-northeast side of the catchment triangle , beyond its left tributaries of the Maßbach , including in particular the Erlenbach , which drains the other side to the Lauer . This hydrologically most important part of the total watershed is bordered by the catchment area of the large Franconian Saale , which reaches the Main much further down . The long western sheath separates the entire length of the catchment area of the receiving Marienbach , the long southeast from that of the Höllenbach , which flows into the Main just before the Marienbach.

Geologically, the area is determined by the Upper Muschelkalk , which occupies the northern areas and the lower layers in the south. In the higher above lies the Lettenkeuper ( Erfurt formation ) of the Unterkeuper . The limestone in the north is tectonically high between two fault lines on a withdrawing from northwest to southeast Horst , parallel to the other in the lower basin, sometimes only brief disturbances also partially shell against the lower Keuper the depth floes move.
