Verkhny Landech ( Russian Верхний Ландех , scientific transliteration Verchnij Landech ) is a Russian urban-type settlement in Ivanovo Oblast , Central Federal District . It is the administrative seat (since 1985) of the Rajons of the same name and has 2027 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

The place is 118 km south-southeast of the regional capital Ivanovo and 82 km east of Shuja on the rivers Landech and Newra .

The predominant economic sectors are textile industry and agriculture (including a large dairy ). The closest connection to the railway network is in Shuja, 82 km away .

Attractions

The simple Church of the Ascension of Christ (Вознесенская церковь), the Church of the Prophet Elijah (Ильинская церковь, 1790) and the Church of St. Nicholas , consecrated in 1863, have survived , even if partially damaged, on the historic market square .
