Werner Aldinger

Werner Aldinger (* 1958 in Munich ) is a German music producer in the field of jazz . Initially working as a trombonist , music journalist and radio presenter, he now runs Horst Weber's label enja .

Aldinger played in the early 1980s in the world music band Embryo , with the dissidents and Charlie Mariano, and with Schäggy Bädsch around Hubl Greiner .

From 1987 to 1989 he moderated music and youth programs such as Rocklok, Nachtsession or Zündfunk for Bayerischer Rundfunk . As a critic, he wrote articles for various jazz and hi-fi magazines. In 1990 Horst Weber brought him to enja records as a label manager and producer , where he took his place ten years later. In 2008 he founded his own label yellowbird records .

Several of his productions have been awarded the German Record Critics' Prize, including albums by Jun Miyake , Elliott Sharp , Aki Takase , Paul Brody , Archie Shepp , Mal Waldron and Roman Bunka . There was also the Echo Jazz industry award . As a producer he continued to work with Dewey & Joshua Redman , Sun Ra , Eddie Harris , Myra Melford , Marc Ribot , Johannes Enders , Michel Godard , Nils Wogram , Lucia Cadotsch , Roy Nathanson , David Liebman and Kip Hanrahan . In addition, he occasionally performs himself with bands like Bluekilla or the Resi-Schmelz combo .
