Werner Heinrich von Kleist

Werner Heinrich von Kleist (born October 27, 1703 in Wendisch Tychow ; † October 31, 1765 ibid) was a Prussian major general .

Life

family

He came from the old Pomeranian noble family von Kleist . He was a son of the heir to Groß Tychow Caspar Henning von Kleist († 1704) and Sabina Elisabeth von Bonin († after 1704). Kleist remained unmarried.

Career

Kleist began his career at the age of 18 in the Forcade Regiment on foot (later No. 23). In 1725 he was an ensign there , advanced to secondary lieutenant in 1731 and prime lieutenant in 1735 . In the Battle of Mollwitz he distinguished himself and was honored with the order Pour le Mérite .

In 1741 he was promoted to staff captain and a little later took over as company commander the newly established fusilier regiment Schwedt near Brieg (1806: No. 42). In 1758 Kleist was promoted to lieutenant colonel , in 1759 to colonel and commander of the fusilier regiment Margrave Heinrich and was stationed first in Frankenstein , then in Neisse . 1764 dimitted as major general.

He took part in all of Frederick the Great's campaigns.
