Freight shipping

Jean Bossler I.

In 1956 Werner Boßler, together with his father Johann Friedrich Boßler, who was also the owner of the MS Elisabeth , built the motor cargo ship Jean Bossler I with a capacity of 750 tons. In 1960 the Jean Bossler I was extended by ten meters. The Jean Bossler I was in service for Werner Ludwig Boßler until 1969. The inland trade ship was then sold to the Netherlands . In addition, Werner Boßler acquired the Klaus freight ship in 1962 , which had a capacity of 1,100 tons.

Jean Bossler II

1969 followed the construction of the motor cargo ship Jean Bossler II with an engine output of 1200 HP and 1480 tons of loading capacity. Werner Boßler personally designed the sketch of the double-hulled container ship . In the technical sector, the barge built at the traditional Philipp Ebert & Söhne shipyard was equipped with international Rhine radio and a radar radio 3 device. In 1972 the Jean Bossler II was extended to 95 meters and had a loading capacity of 1907 tons. The installation of a further radio and a bow thruster was integrated into this expansion measure . In 1986 the Jean Bossler II was handed over to the Schwaben shipping company as the Wunnenstein .

Jean Bossler III

In the same year Werner Ludwig Boßler commissioned the building of the Jean Bossler III ; this freight ship had a power output of 1,600 hp and a capacity of 2,878 tons. It drove bulk goods under the flag of the shipping company Lehnkering and was the most modern container ship that was launched at the Ebert and Sons shipyard until 1987 .

In 1994 the Jean Bossler III was sold to the Netherlands as Berdina . In 1998 the inland freight ship was handed over to the Götz shipping company as the Excelsior . In 2007 the ship went down in the shipping history of the Rhine because it triggered the Excelsior accident .

The motor cargo ships with the name Jean Bossler were dedicated to Werner Ludwig Boßler's father.

Tanker shipping

In 1990 Werner Boßler and two other entrepreneurs gave the contract to build the tanker Mi-Ra, which was completed in 1991 . In 1991 it was considered the largest inland waterway vessel in the Federal Republic . The tanker had a capacity of 3200 tons. Overall, Werner Ludwig Boßler held stakes in two inland tankers.

Werner Ludwig Boßler is one of the pioneers in this branch thanks to his modern merchant ships and his work in the field of inland shipping.
