Westenborken is a scattered settlement and a district of the city of Borken in the district of the same name in North Rhine-Westphalia .
geography
Westenborken extends in the southwest of the Borken city area in an agricultural area. To the north lies the Bocholter Aa valley with the farming communities of Hoxfeld and Rhedebrügge . To the west is the Krommert settlement , which belongs to the town of Rhede . In the east lies the Borkener farmers 'community Grütlohn in the south the Raesfeld farmers' home Homer .
Westborken is traversed by some tributaries of the Bocholter Aa. The most important is the Kieritbach . Westenborken is located in the Hohe Mark Nature Park .
history
The place was first mentioned in 1206. In 1206 the Asbeck monastery received the tithe in Westenborken. At that time, Westenborken was a peasantry in the parish of Borken. In the middle of the 19th century the village became independent. The municipal reorganization came into force on July 1, 1969. Westenborken came to the city of Borken.
