Wichard Heino von Rochow (born October 9, 1822 in Stülpe , † May 11, 1886 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general .

Wichard came from the Rochow family and was the eldest son of Adolf von Rochow (1788–1869) and his wife Wilhelmine, born von Broesigke (1803–1835) from the Ketzür family. Wichard's father was a Prussian colonel , court marshal to Prince Wilhelm of Prussia (1783-1851) and commander of the Order of St. John .

Military career

Rochow attended the knight academy in Brandenburg an der Havel in 1835/38 . His younger brothers Wilhelm Rochus and Adam Ernst III. as well as his cousins ​​Hans Wilhelm and Adolf Friedrich later went to school there too. On May 1, 1840, he joined the 3rd Hussar Regiment of the Prussian Army as a hussar . As Portepeefähnrich followed in mid-July 1841 he was transferred to the 1st Hussars Regiment . There Rochow mid-May 1844 was awarded the character as a second lieutenant , and on 9 November 1844, he was patent awarded this rank. On January 13, 1852 he was aggregated to the regiment of the Gardes du Corps and Rochow was ranked on April 15, 1852 with a patent from June 12, 1844. He was promoted to Rittmeister by mid-June 1857 and was chief of the 4th and then the 6th Company until May 20, 1858 . On June 30, 1859, Rochow was appointed chief of the 3rd Squadron. As a major , he led this squadron in 1866 during the war against Austria in the battles near Skalitz , Schweinschädel and Königgrätz, as well as the enclosure of Josefstadt .

After the war he was a regular staff officer from October 30, 1866 to March 21, 1868 and was then appointed commander of the 1st Guard Uhlan Regiment . In this capacity promoted to lieutenant colonel in mid-June 1869 , Rochow took part in the war against France in the battles at Beaumont , Sedan and Beaugency as well as the siege of Paris in 1870/71 . Awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class, he became a colonel after the Peace of Frankfurt in August 1871 . On November 10, 1871, he gave up his regiment and took over the 2nd Guard Uhlan Regiment . In this position he was awarded the Order of Saint Anne and the Order of the Iron Crown, 2nd class, on September 18, 1872 . Due to illness Rochow had to say goodbye , which was granted to him on October 15, 1874 with the character of major general.

He had been an honorary knight since 1856 and a legal knight of the Order of St. After his death, he was buried on May 14, 1886 in Stülpe. From 1869, as his father's heir, until his death, Wichard was the landlord on Stülpe. With the early death of his mother from 1835 until it was sold in 1883, his siblings were also co-owners of the Ketzür II manor.

family

Rochow had married on June 3, 1852 in Berlin with Anna Klara Mathilde von Rochow (1824-1874), daughter of the Prussian lieutenant general and envoy in Saint Petersburg Theodor von Rochow . The daughter Elisabeth Maria Theodora (1884–1855) emerged from the marriage. The rule of Stülpe with Holbeck, Ließen, Schmielickendorf (no longer present today) and Riesdorfer Heide then took over Wichard's cousin Hans Wilhelm von Rochow-Plessow (1824-1891) in 1887, the management of these goods was in turn his second son Rochus Friedrich Rudolf (1856- 1901).
