Wickersrode is a district of Hessisch Lichtenau in the Werra-Meißner district in Hesse .

Wickersrode is located about 5 km south-southeast of the center of the core city of Hessisch Lichtenau. It is surrounded by forest and the Vockebach flows through it. In the village meet state roads  3249 and the 3439th

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in the 13th century. The half-timbered church was built in 1797 . The place belonged to the Hessian office Lichtenau until 1821 and then to the district of Witzenhausen . During the French occupation, the place belonged to the canton of Lichtenau in the Kingdom of Westphalia (1807-1813).

In the competition Our village should become more beautiful , Wickersrode was district winner in 1960, national winner in 1961 (bronze medal) and in 1969 district winner in the Hessian state competition.

On December 31, 1971, the previously independent community was incorporated into the city of Hessisch Lichtenau.
